As some of you may know from my other blog, I'm Walking the 3-Day, I am participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure this November here in San Diego.

Mommy Wants Freebies is Giving Away a $100 Safeway Gift Card!

Almost no freebie or giveaway prize can compare to a gift card. I totally love being able to spend the money on exactly what I need. When I win a gift card I always feel excited like I had a spike in my budget or that I get to splurge on something I otherwise wouldn't buy for myself.

So how excited do you think I got when I found a new blog, Mommy Wants Freebies and to top it all off I found out that she's currently running a giveaway for a $100 Safeway gift card?!? I get all of my groceries at Von's, our local Safeway store and would just be extatic to receive a $100 gift card there!

Our grocery budget runs right at about $100 each week for all of our meals. I do a meal plan every week for breakfast, lunch and dinner and then make a grocery list from that. We do eat out on Fridays and we're on our own to make a meal out of leftovers on Saturday and Sunday lunches. Other than that our $100 budget makes us all of those meals! I feel pretty good about how low we keep our food budget, but if I won a $100 Safeway card it would make me feel even better about it! Who couldn't use a little help with the grocery bill right now?

I love finding out about new services and products. I really find it's one of the great perks of entering online giveaways- especially blog giveaways. Companies often feels it's worth giving away a fun prize in order to get their name out in the blogosphere. I totally agree and can't count the number of times I've seen a product giveaway and thought, "Wow! That's great! I really hope I win that...and if I don't I'm still very interested!"

Now when I saw the post I realized I'd never heard of Kart Me or Rent the Runway. But I was intrigued!

Come to find out, Kart Me is a website where you can keep lists of photos and links. It sounds simple but it's really a great idea. You can create lists of recipes, fashion or home decor items, it's really endless. After you create a list or group all of your items togheter they provide you with a link to come back and visit or to give out to friends. Pretty great!

Rent the Runway is a website that allows you to "rent" dresses, clothes and accessories from the hottest new designers. It's a great site because it offers really trendy and usually unattainalbe (for me) items to rent for special occasions or just because. I love that I don't have to clunck down a mortgage-sized payment for a black tie gown or that hot one-shouldered mini dress I know I'll never wear again!

Should 5 Minutes for Mom.com Pick Me to Gleek Out with Janice?

Hi all!

Earlier last night I was hanging out in 5 Minutes for Mom.com's and Dove Hair Glee for All Twitter Party. It was a ton of fun talking with other Gleeks about the amazing television show. They were giving away fun Dove Hair Glee for All prize packs and the grand prize was even a pair of tickets to see the sold-out Glee Tour! Boy, did I have my fingers (and toes) crossed to win that one! Alas, I was not so lucky, but at the end of the party there was an announcement to head on over to 5 Minutes for Mom.com to win another chance to win a ticket to the tour! Well, you know I clicked on over and what I found was this! ...

Spring has officially "sprung" and we all know what that means! Longer days, sun, flip flops and sports! Oh, yeah...I guess you could add spring cleaning in there, too!

If you don't already know, I heart Nordstrom! When I moved here to San Diego from Norman, Oklahoma in November of 2007, I told almost anyone who asked that my favorite thing about San Diego was Nordstrom!

I had, of course, heard of Nordstrom before I moved here, but I had never been to one of their stores. As soon as I moved here I learned why so many people love it. I could tell you I love their selection of designer clothes, their marvelous array of high heels, the fact that they carry one of my favorite cosmetics brands, Smashbox, or that their semi-annual sale is to die for! But, the one thing I like most about Norstrom are their amazing employees. Wheather I call for info, chat with an expert online or head into their store, each associate makes me feel like a million bucks. I especially love the men in the shoe department and the women in the cosmetics and perfume sections at our local Fashion Valley Norstrom.

So, I've gone through all of this rambling to let you know that Coture Nerd, one of my all-time favorite websites, is actually giving away a $200 Nordstrom gift card. I almost stopped breathing when I first saw the post! I was that excited.

Hi! Sorry I've Been Gone for a Few Days...

Hi all!

Sorry I've been gone for a few days! You won't believe what I've been doing...a sleep study! You know, where you go stay at a hospital and they hook up (what seems like) ten million tiny little electrodes to you and you sleep.

Sound strange? Well it was!

I don't have what most people think of as a sleep "problem". My issue is that I sleep too much. Way too much. In fact, I've been having the hardest time staying awake for normal tasks and it's really starting to cramp my style. When I told the doctor he sent me a sleep specialist who then scheduled me for a sleep study.

I don't have any results yet but will probably know more about what's going on while I sleep sometime next week. I really am looking forward to feeling more awake so I'm ready for the doctors' orders!

Well, if you haven't heard by now, the DROID is Google's answer to the iPhone...and it seems to be kicking some butt! Not that people don't still love their iPhones, but many that have been really unhappy with AT&T's service and coverage are trying the DROID and Verizon...and liking it.

I've been caught-up in the DROID frenzy myself, and though I haven't purchased one, my husband and I did head over to the Verizon store in our area to check it out. Cool is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of a description.

Eris is one type of the DROID they've put out and isn't the top of the line, but still has most of the features I'm interested in.

One of my favorite blogs, Better Parenting, just posted a new article titled "5 Family Budgeting Tips That Work". I've just been planning a new personal and family budget and it's not easy stuff. I found a great site, Mint, that has been helping enormously, but I also learned a lot from this post.

The two things listed in the article that really hit me were Keep A Spending Diary and Enjoy the Free Things in Life. It's not that I hadn't thought about those things, but when I read about them they really made a lot of sense.
